by Kootenai Valley Record October 14, 2010 Asa Wood Elementary kindergartener Rhiannon Slenes grins as school principal and Libby Volunteer Fire Department member Scott Beagle shows her how to raise the ladder on a fire truck. The hands-on demonstration followed an assembly in the school gym in which LVFD members taught students a variety of fire-safety tips, including lessons on smoke detectors and what to do if they go off, how to drop and roll to extinguish burning clothing, and the importance of not playing with matches.
