Boss Dog Clinic September 25
by Kootenai Pets for Life
September 14, 2010

Dog owners only want one thing---well behaved dogs. Fortunately, owners can have well behaved puppies, dogs, and even older dogs right now. Susan Overfield, Montana’s acclaimed dog behavior expert and author, will be speaking and demonstrating how to have a well behaved dog. She will also available for private and affordable in- home consultations while here, at the convenience of owners.

Overfield does not use a "choke chain or treat-driven obedience" training system. Hers is the time honored method of top dog handlers and how dogs train other dogs, through behavior. As Overfield says, "behavior begets obedience." Once dogs are well behaved, they are also obedient.

No dog is too young or too old. All breeds understand this method. Overfield, who has worked dogs for over 38 years, is a sought after speaker and handler across the nation. She is popular because she makes sense, and because she understands dog behavior from the ground up, scientifically and from experience. Her classes and BOSS Dog Clinics have been attended by dog behaviorists and trainers from as far away as England, as well as shelter personnel, foster groups and owners from around the United States. Her method is now being used in several progressive animal shelters and dog rescues.

Overfield just completed a training tour of the eastern and southeastern part of the United States, performing clinics and in-home consultations for owners and dog trainers alike. Veterinarians frequently call her to handle problem dogs and send her puppies to ensure that they are started right with their new families. She trains and handles herding dogs, hunting dogs, family dogs, tracking dogs, and agility dogs. She handles "aggressive" dogs. No dog is off limits.

Ms. Overfield wrote the popular book, "Saturday Dogs…and the owners they trained," featuring a few of the thousands of dogs whose owners she helped.

Boss Dog Clinic will be held on September 25, 2010, 9 am to 4:30, place to be determined. Cost is $100.00 for owner and dog.
