Troy Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration largest in the region
Free, 100% volunteer-run, family-friendly event
by Troy Chamber of Commerce
June 25, 2010

TROY - For over 100 years, Troy, Montana (population 950) has thrown a traditional 4th of July celebration. Each year it has grown and now more than 6,000 people visit the town annually to take part in this free, family-friendly event with a fireworks display that cannot be beat!

New to the schedule this year: an All-Church Service hosted by Troy’s churches and a Power Parachute Demonstration. Hosted by Troy’s churches, the All Church Service will take place at 9 a.m. at the Babe Ruth Ball Park in Troy. It will include worship, music, and the opportunity for worshippers to have an alternative to their regular church service that does not conflict with the 11 a.m. parade. It is also a great chance for those from different churches to worship together as a community. At 7 p.m., witness a Power Parachute Demonstration (weather permitting) at the Roosevelt Park Pavilion. Watchers will see the demonstrator H.D. Patton fly over the Kootenai River and land in the field and will also get the chance to talk with him after the demonstration.

This year’s quilt show at Morrison Elementary, sponsored by Troy’s Tender Lovin’ Quilters, has a theme of "Sue in the Cabin." Come on Saturday, July 3, to vote on a favorite or visit the 3rd or 4th to buy quilts, visit quilt vendors, and enjoy refreshments. A bus will run a loop (about once each half an hour) between Morrison Elementary and Roosevelt Park while the quilt show is open on the 4th.

In addition to these new additions, there’s still the parade, car show, quilt show, food vendors, craft vendors, free kids games at 2 p.m., live music all day, basketball tournament, tug-of-war, cash raffle, and the largest fireworks display in the region! Also, drop by the Information Booth to buy this year’s t-shirts, centennial coins and books, and 50/50 tickets to win cash and support next year’s event. Returning by popular demand, Copper Mountain Band will headline again this year, after a day of live performances by a variety of musicians. All taking place in the beautiful setting of Troy’s Roosevelt Park on the Kootenai River, Troy’s 4th of July is a great all-day event for the whole family.
