Mike Forrester Mike Forrester from Ideleyld Park, Oregon, was the all-around logger at this year's Logger Days. Thanks to all the visiting participants for making the logging events so much fun to watch! Logger Days 2010 June 29, 2010 It seems most of Libby turned out for Logger Days last weekend, which offered perfect weather and several new events for the community to enjoy. Thursday started off with the carnival and the traditional water fights for both kids and adults. The lip sync contest and music by the Copper Mountain Band followed. Friday's events included kids' crosscut sawing, the very popular Bull and Bullette of the Woods, the King and Queen coronation, tug-of-war, Copper Mountain Band music, and fireworks. Saturday featured a 5K and 10K fun run, the Logger Days parade, the kids' ping pong ball drop, adult logging events all afternoon, new-this-year lawnmower races, and music by Russ Nasset and the Revelators. Sunday's main events were the kids' sawdust dig (where kids dig in a pile of sawdust for money), and the ATV and chainsaw raffle. The carnival continued throughout the weekend, as did a softball tournament. The weekend not only celebrated Libby's logging heritage, but provided fun entertainment for the entire family. Peavey Log Roll A peavey is a tool with a hinged hook used to maneuver logs. Donut Stacking Alvie Marcellus stacks "donuts." Any donuts that fall off the saw blade or the stack are not counted. Log birling This contest of agility and balance was back after several years of not being offered as a logging event. It involves two contestants staying atop a rolling log in a pool of water.
