Fireman Park Splash Pad in limbo

You may have noticed construction activity in Fireman Park.
That is the beginning of a splash pad water feature. A splash pad that may never be finished.
The project has been halted by the Department of Environmental Health due to the failure to comply with the State's requirements for public pools and water features.
The regulations call for the plans to be submitted to the State for review 90 days prior to the start of construction. That was not done. Further, the regulations require the project to be signed off by an engineer licensed in Montana. It has not been. And the design does not comply with requirements put in effect the first of the year by the State.
Mayor Doug Roll, at Monday's City Council meeting, said the City will not be spending any money on an engineer. The splash pad is not a City project, but is located in a City owned park. The pad was proposed by former Mayor, and current County Commissioner, Tony Berget, and funded by donations.
Without the engineering and with a rapidly escalating amount of money required to bring the project into compliance, the splash pad will not be completed. _____________________________
