On the way to Troy
STOKR Saturday
Or, should we say SOAKR?
May 8, 2010

Wet, cold and miserable best describes Saturday's STOKR bike ride, the Scenic Tour of the Kootenai River to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The riders started out in the pouring rain and only found some relief for a short while around Troy. The 45-milers fared somewhat better with the weather than the 98-mile riders, but the long ride had to be cut short at the Yaak Mercantile due to extreme wet and cold. Besides pouring rain, the bicyclists also had to contend with snow for the final several miles to the Mercantile. A few hardy, well prepared people were reportedly going to try to finish the loop down Pipe Creek, but most found a way to get back to Libby in the comfort of a warm, dry vehicle. This will be a STOKR to remember, and probably not fondly.
