A mid-morning collision on the west edge of Libby killed five people, and put one in Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle Monday morning.
41 year old Sherry Lynn Thompson from Eureka, her 10 year old daughter Kendra, 68 year old Jack Ross Flasche, 66 year old Lois Lucille Flasche and 55 year old Theresa Cole Merritt from Troy, all died in the accident.
The Montana Highway Patrol says the 10 year old daughter, Kendra, was in the rear and not wearing her seatbelt. She was ejected from the vehicle.
Thompson's 16-year-old son, Braden, was wearing a seatbelt, survived. His condition is unavailable.
MHP says excessive speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash pending toxicology results from the State Crime Lab in Missoula.
Lynn Thompson was traveling toward Troy, lost control of her vehicle and slid sideways into the oncoming traffic. It was raining and the road was wet at the time of the accident.
The accident continues under investigation of the Montana Highway Patrol. _____________________________
