Libby Plywood Plant destroyed by fire
by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio
February 26, 2010
The former St Regis/Champion/Stimson plywood plant lit up the Thursday night sky as it burned.
It is too early to know the cause of the blaze, which was fast and hot.
It was part of the old mill site that once was Libby's major industry and now the site of the Kootenai Business Park, owned by Lincoln County under the Port Authority. Another piece of Libby's history gone.
The sawmill burned years ago gathering huge crowds as did tonight's fire.
Fire trucks responded to the fire about 9:30pm. Equipment from as far as Troy assisted.
