by Kootenai Valley Record
February 18, 2010
Libby Boy Scout Troop 1970 celebrated the 100th year of scouting in America with a dinner and program on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Highlights included a concert by members of the Libby Children’s Select Choir and a performance by Jim Atkinson as Boy Scouts founder Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell.
Gary Spencer, the second member in the history if Troop 1970 to receive the Eagle Scout award, was honored during the program. Spencer was awarded the eagle scout rank in 1972 and remains active in the troop. Two of his sons, Conner and T.J., have become Eagle Scouts. His son Austin received Cub Scouting’s highest award, the Arrow of Light, and graduated into Boy Scouts during the 100th anniversary celebration. _________________________________
