Flags will fly at half-staff on Monday morning (Nov. 2) until sundown on Tuesday evening (Nov. 3) by order of Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer to honor U.S. Army Sgt. First Class James R. Stright.
A Libby native, Stright died Oct. 23 of injuries while participating in a U.S. Army training exercise conducting helicopter deck-landing training on the U.S. Navy ship Arctic off the coast of Virginia during the training mission. Stright was the crew-chief aboard the helicopter that crashed on the deck of the ship. Stright was a Soldier in C Company, 3rd Battalion of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, headquartered at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA.
Funeral services for Sgt. 1st Class Stright are tentatively scheduled to be held, November 2nd at 1 p.m. at the Libby Christian Church (100 Kootenai River Rd). Sgt. 1st Class Stright's body was scheduled to arrive in Montana over the weekend. _____________________________
