Kootenai Karacters present ‘The Boardinghouse’ Sept. 10-12
by Kootenai Valley Record
September 3, 2009
The Kootenai Karacters will present the melodrama "The Boardinghouse" Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 10-12, at the Little Theatre as part of Libby’s 25th annual Nordicfest celebration.
Miss Harriet runs a lovely boarding house with some questionable characters as guests. Martha is a known hypochondriac, and Gladys is a taxidermist who may or may not have her dead husband stuffed and in her closet.
Ivy is a lovable painter who adores "painting" people. Her nurse Hortense tries hard to keep up with the flighty Ivy.
Mr. Richards is an artist, poet, political speech writer, spy and handyman who is often caught lying down on the job. Tweenie, the new maid, suffers from nerves and may or may not survive living in the madcap house.
Veronica and Dirk Shadow are the newest guests and are on a quest for gold.
Dr. Sni-fell works hard to keep Harriet’s boarders healthy, even though he’s been retired for 20 years.
Amid the chaos and confusion, Mrs. Snodgrass just wants to find her shoe.
The play is directed by Shanda Jennings and stars Katie Babb as Mrs. Snodgrass, Steve Lethrud as Dr. Sni-Fell, Shanda Jennings as Hortense, Rick Curtiss as Harriet, Cynthia Curtiss as Martha Willis, Michael Wise as Dirk Shadow, Amy Smart as Tweenie, Robert Orr as Mr. Richards, Shelley Orr as Ivy, Sheri Edwards as Veronica and Marchette Robinson as Gladys Klotz.
Show times are 7 p.m. all three nights with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children. ______________________________________
