Engle Peak Hike
Cabinet Mountains Wilderness area trek by Bob Hosea

Bob Hosea took a hike to the top of Engle Peak in the most southern part of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness area recently. Engle Peak has an elevation of 7765 feet. Here is his report.
"The hike is a little over eight miles long with an elevation gain of almost 3000' The trailhead to Engle Peak and Engle lakes is accessed from the Rock Creek road #150 and the Orr Creek Road #2285, which are near Noxon."
"Some of the pictures include a view of Engle Peak from about two miles up the trail and also some of the Engle lakes that sit just below a ridge that you walk along on the trail. The other pictures are from the summit and include another view of another of the Engle lakes, a view of the Cabinet Gorge Dam and reservoir, a view of Flat Top Mountain and a view of Goat Peak."
"The trail was in great shape and there weren't any biting bugs. There were however many, many lady bugs on the summit. I saw only two other people on the trip and they had hiked beyond Engle Peak on to one of the connecting ridges. The only wildlife I saw were hawks, Blue grouse and Pikas."
