Ignite the Nites 2009
Igniters Car Show draws 270 vehicles
August 16, 2009 | Updated August 20, 2009

Libby's Igniters Car Club held its 49th annual car show over the weekend, featuring a cruise of Mineral Avenue and flame-throwing contest Friday night, a car show with nearly 300 registered entrants Saturday, and a burnout contest Saturday evening. The event drew hundreds of spectators who enjoyed the impressive display of cars lining Mineral Avenue for the car show. The weather was cool and comfortable, and as an added bonus, the rain held off until just after the burnout contest ended.

The Igniters Car Club’s annual Ignite the Nites car show drew 240 registered vehicles plus around 30 more unregistered cars put on display by club members.

A candy apple red 1964 Chevy Nova owned by Tim and Terri Anderson of Kalispell won the People’s Choice award at the car show.

Crowds lined Mineral Avenue Friday night to watch many of the cars registered for the show cruise "the gut" and engage in neon and flame-throwing contests. An estimated 600 people turned out to watch the burnout contest at the Millpond Motocross track after the car show on Saturday. Twenty vehicles took part in the contest.
