Commissioners to ask voters to decide on non-partisan question

The Lincoln County Commissioners voted Wednesday to put the non-partisan question to the voters.
In a party line two Democrats to one Republican vote the Commissioners put the question of should all elected county officials, including the Commissioners themselves, be independent of party affiliations on the ballot.
The candidates would appear on both Republican and Democrat ballots in an otherwise "closed" primary election, allowing voters to vote across party lines. State and Federal offices will remain partisan.
Candidates will still be able to display donkeys and elephants, and D's and R's, on campaign advertising, according to the Commissioners office.
The question goes to the voters in November. ______________________________
