A young mother and her 2-and-half year old son are dead following a house fire Saturday morning.
According to Assistant Fire Marshall Steve Lauer, an ashtray fell back into a living room couch igniting the cushions and seatback.
Lorna L. Coffman, 26, and Montie B. McPherson IV, 2-1/2 were killed in the blaze. They were both found in a bedroom of the single-wide mobile home on Spencer Hill Avenue. The structure had no sprinkler system and no smoke detectors.
