1st Annual Riverfront Blues Festival in Libby August 29

The 1st Annual Riverfront Blues Festival will take place in Libby on Saturday, August 29th. This all-day event will take place at the new Riverfront Park Pavilion next to the Kootenai River in downtown Libby.

Tickets are $15.00 for adults if bought ahead of time, $20.00 at the park. Tickets are $10.00 for children over 6, and free for children under 6 and under if they bring a non-perishable food to donate to the Libby Food Bank.

According to organizer Peggy Oelberg, all proceeds go to Libby Revitalization to help beautify Libby, and to the Kootenai Heritage Council to help with bringing in more entertainment to the Memorial Center, with food donations going to the Libby Food Bank.

Bands scheduled to appear are:

Kenny Neal
Born in New Orleans and raised in Baton Rouge, Kenny is known as a modern swamp-blues master. Kenny has been honored with numerous awards such as:
• 2009 Monterey Bay Blues (MOBAY) Artist of the Year Award
• 2009 BMA (Blues Music Award) Winner for Song of the Year, "Let Life Flow"
• 2009 West Coast Blues Hall of Fame Awards for Blues CD of the Year "Let Life Flow" and "Blues Band of the Year"
• 2009 Blueswax Album of the Year "Let Life Flow"
•2009 Grammy entries for Grammy Nominations in 4 categories

The Ben Rice Band
An energetic band from Newberg, Oregon, that engages audiences. An extensive performance repertoire including the Memphis International Blues Challenge Portland Waterfront Blues Festival. New Orleans Heritage festival, Experience Music Project and many others. Influences: BB King, Hooker, Howlin Wolf, Ray Charles and R. Ford

Too Slim and the Tail Draggers
Take the modern Alt-Country Blues sound of Drive By Truckers, mix in the North Mississippi Allstars and the fun loving attitude and riff-blues-rock of ZZ Top mix them all together and you get close to the vibe of Too Slim and the Taildraggers.

Back Adit
An acoustic style mix of strings, woodwinds and harmonies blend to formulate an entertaining assimilation of 40’s style swing, eclectic folk and jazz. Performing throughout the Inland NW, the group brings a unique style of music to the stage not often seen in this area.
Influences: Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, Charlie Parker, Bob Dylan and others.

Bridge City Blues Band
The Bridge City Blues Band from Portland Oregon, has been playing together for three years. They play mostly blues, some originals but mostly the old favorites. The band is made of five guys who share a common musical interest, and enjoy playing the blues. All come from different musical backgrounds. Something unique happens when the combined chemistries of this group collide, and audiences respond with the highest of praise.
