Jonna Peltier and Alysha Martin are competing for the title of 2009 Libby Logger Days Queen. Peltier, 16, is the daughter of Marty and Carol Ann Peltier. She is a junior at Libby High School, where she plays golf and softball. She also enjoys hunting, fishing and camping.
Martin, also 16, is the daughter of Robert and Stephanie Martin. She is a sophomore at Libby High School and plays softball, basketball and volleyball. In her spare time she enjoys boating, water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling and snowboarding.
Both Peltier and Martin are selling Logger Days buttons at locations around Libby. Buttons are $4 from one of the queen candidates and will be $5 at the gate. The buttons serve as an admission ticket for Logger Days events, scheduled for June 25-28 at J. Neils Memorial County Park.
All Logger Days events will be at the park this year, including the water fight to get things started on Thursday, June 25. Thursday will be family night with events including a tug of war and a fun run for kids.
Along with traditional logging events, this year’s Logger Days will include a bigger, better carnival, fireworks, a Jack and Jill softball tournament, and music by the Copper Mountain Band. A detailed schedule will be published before the event.
