KLCB says Goodbye to Paul Harvey

The KLCB banner is flying at half staff today. KLCB lost one our extended family Saturday night. Paul Harvey. Paul Harvey had been on KLCB’s airwaves since the mid-1960s, long before many of the stations in northwest Montana even existed. Every afternoon when the mill whistle sounded lunch break, residents of Libby sat down for 15 minutes with Paul Harvey on KLCB. I, personally first heard Paul Harvey while still in grade school, lost touch with him in college, there was no near ABC station, and got reacquainted with him on KMON, Great Falls, and of course, all these years with KLCB. I have a personal, hand written note card from him, received not too many years ago. Paul Harvey was a true American institution. A unique presence. A true radio icon. We all knew this day would come, and some of us knew it was coming sooner than later. I believe he never recovered from the grief of the loss of his life-long love last year. Paul Harvey will be missed by KLCB listeners and staff, as will his familiar signature sign-off…. Paul Harvey…Good Day!
