A 50-year-old Marion woman was killed Friday, March 20, on Highway 2 near Kootenai Falls after a deer hit by an oncoming car was thrown through her vehicle’s windshield.
According to information released by the Montana Highway Patrol, Pamela Rae Angle was westbound in a 1997 Ford F-250 pickup truck when the accident occurred at 7:50 a.m. near milepost 21, just east of Kootenai Falls.
An eastbound 1991 Subaru Legacy driven by George Cowart, 54, of Troy, struck a deer that ran onto the highway directly in front of him. The deer was thrown into the air directly into the path of Angle’s vehicle and struck the windshield.
The front portion of the deer continued through the windshield and out the back window of the truck, causing fatal injuries to Angle.
Two passengers in Angle’s vehicle were transported by Libby Volunteer Ambulance to St. John’s Lutheran Hospital, where they were treated for injuries. Cowart was not injured. ______________________________________
