Former Libby resident and country music artist Mike Schikora is featured in the February/March 2009 issue of "American Cowboy" magazine.
The son of Willie Schikora of Libby, Mike grew up in Libby and California. He began taking violin lessons at an early age and discovered a passion for honky-tonk music that he further developed during his college years.
Starting in 1987, Schikora worked as a songwriter in Nashville, but after seven years on Music Row he decided to return to the West. He currently lives in Colorado, where he breeds horses and is a partner in the independent Front Range Records recording label.
Schikora’s new self-produced album, "What’s Old is New Again," features a tribute to his hometown, titled "Back Under Montana Skies," along with 10 other original tracks. Samples of Shikora’s music can be heard on his web page, www.mikeschikora.com, or at www.myspace.com/mikeschikora. _______________________________________
