Update on James Schnackenberg

After months of waiting, hoping, and praying, James Schnackenberg and his family were especially excited to see the morning of August 30th arrive. At 11 am on that beautiful Saturday morning, James walked onto the soccer field as a starting player in the Libby Logger’s first varsity game of the 2008 soccer season.
In February 2008, James was seriously injured in an accident in which he was struck by a train in Libby. He subsequently underwent a number of surgeries, however a week after the accident he had to have his lower right leg amputated below the knee, casting doubt on his future sports abilities.
Two months after the accident, doctors were able to fit James with a prosthetic foot so he could resume walking on his own. By May, James was back in school and trying to get back to as normal life as possible. One of his goals was to return to the soccer field. After months of recovery, that day came last month when James was able to play in the Logger’s season opening soccer game on August 30th.
A benefit fund has been set up on behalf of the Schnackenberg family to help them with some of the expenses related to equipping Jameswith a new Prosthetic leg. Cards or contributions to this fund may be mailed to:
