The Libby City Council has put streetscape development of the first two blocks, those between Lincoln Boulevard and Highway Two on Mineral Avenue, on hold until Spring.
Citing available city crews and limited time before weather problems set in, the recommendation to the Council was to wait, despite earlier urging by Libby MainStreet director Trent Oleberg that the project must be done this Fall.
The Libby Tree Board, in addition, asked the Council to expand the scope of the streetscape project to include the south side of Lincoln Boulevard to qualify for a sizable grant from the state to plant trees along the Southside of the boulevard from Mineral Avenue, east in front of the Historic Libby High School and the Memorial Center, continuing east to the end of the boulevard. The Tree Board proposes tapping into the tree irrigation system to be installed along Mineral as part of streetscape. _________________________________________
