After almost an hour of deliberations behind closed doors, the members of the Judicial Standards Commission, decided not to make a decision in the Justice of the Peace Gary Hicks case.
The Commission will circulate proposed findings among themselves until they reach a decision... indicating this is not a cut and dried decision and that there is disagreement among the panel as to the fate of Hicks.
Hicks is under review for allegations of making inappropriate comments, suggestive comments, requesting sexual activities with women appearing before him in court, and offering leniency for the sexual favors.
Hicks took the stand Wednesday in his own defense, denying all the allegations of offering or requesting sex with the women, but did admit making remarks about the women's physical appearance acknowledging he should not have made those remarks and he should never have made visits to the homes of several women with whom he have dealings in court.
The result could be anything from censure and reprimand to removal from the office of Justice of the Peace. There is no indication of how soon that conclusion might be reached. _________________________________________
