Roosevelt Park in Troy will be filled with the sounds of blues, rock ,jazz and random jamming to celebrate the long-lost summer and the third annual Timber Beast Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 21.
Local food vendors will be on hand serving a variety of meals starting at 5 p.m.; the music will start at 6.
Three bands will be playing. “Done With Horses,” a jam band from Missoula with Angelo Chiaverini, will open the show. The group recently won a “battle of the bands” competition in Missoula with a 20-minute instrumental that stunned the judges.
Done With Horses will be followed by the Andre Floyd Band with David Griffith from Kalispell Andre is one of Troy’s favorite musicians to watch and always draws a following of dancers. He has been all around the world playing his blend of original rocking blues and ballads.
Andre has worked with Taj Mahal, Edger Winter, Corky Seigel and many more. Not only has he performed for 42 of his 52 years he is also a renowned promoter of concerts and has produced over 30 CDs for other regional artists. Andre is known as a quintessential musician who sings from his heart, has a message that people need to hear and loves doing what he’s doing.
Multi-instrumentalist David Griffith will fill in the blank spots for Andre with his amazing ability to combine the six instruments he plays, sometimes two at a time, into a driving swirl of the sounds of R&B, funk and a hint of folk. Talk is cheap when it comes to defining what he does; it needs to be heard and seen.
The Blue Melon Band from Hamilton will close out the show with a mix of jazz, blues and rock. The six-piece band has fun finding a groove and then letting the groove take them places they haven’t been before.
There will be a $5 cover charge for the concert. Kids can attend free. All money raised will go to continuing the disc golf event and the Troy Fine Arts Council’s series of music at the park. For more information, call 406-295-3016. ________________________________________
