Lady Loggers split with Polson to end regular season

The Lady Logger softball team ended the regular season with a home win against defending state champion Polson on Friday, followed by a loss Saturday at Polson, leaving both teams with a 9-1 conference record.
Libby won by one run on Friday, but lost by two on Saturday, giving Polson the top slot at the state tournament, which starts Thursday in Butte.
Friday’s game was tied at 1-1 after one inning of play. Libby took a 2-1 lead in the third, and Polson tied the game again in the top of the seventh. Libby’s winning run came in the bottom of the seventh.
Laice Dedrick was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Jordan Refsland also hit a double.
Brooke Hageness got the win from the mound and went 2-for-4 at the plate. Shelby Barton, Nickole Lapka and Emily Monroe added one hit each.
Polson scored two runs in each of the first three innings on Saturday while holding Libby to one in the second, two in the third and one in the fifth to take the win 6-4.
Dedrick and Barton each hit 2-for-4 with a double. Dedrick had one RBI, as did Refsland. Alysha Martin singled.
Earlier in the week, Libby traveled to Whitefish on Tuesday and picked up a 13-3 win. The game was tied at 2-2 at the end of one inning and 3-3 after three. Libby added 2 in the fourth, five in sixth and three more in the seventh while holding Whitefish scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Dedrick was 3-for-3 with a triple, and Barton was 1-for-5 with a triple. Martin hit 4-for-5, Refsland was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, Lapka was 3-for-5, Holly Cirian was 1-for-5 with a double, Kimmy Klin was 2-for-5 and Megan Wedel was 1-for-3. _________________________________________
