Trophy Wildlife Auction
by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks
April 3, 2008
On Saturday April 12, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) will be conducting a trophy wildlife auction at the Region One Headquarters located at 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell. The sale will include non-perishable wildlife parts that will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Approximately 150 items including deer, elk, and moose antlers, lion hides as well as big horn sheep and antelope horns will be up for auction. Most items are the result of confiscations from adjudicated criminal cases, but will also include road kills, management kills or parts found in the wild. The public will be allowed to view auction items beginning at 9:00 AM and bidding will start at 10:00 AM. Proceeds from the sale will be deposited back into the state FWP account.
FWP has donated numerous items to schools, museums and for other educational purposes. FWP has not conducted a sale in almost 10 years and storage space is limited. All perishable food items have been already donated to local food banks. The sales are authorized in state statute.
