Leave the green gorilla alone!

You may have heard the current flap over the Logger Greenchain mascot, the very large green gorilla. I don't know I've ever seen or heard of a real, green, gorilla. But one has been the mascot of the Libby Loggers Green Chain wrestlers for 30 to 35 years.
Someone in the powers that be, I guess no one really knows who, has decided that the Big Green Gorilla has to go. He is no longer representative of the raw, brute power of the Libby Logger wrestling squad.
Now, even with a gorilla as a mascot, I have never heard the Greenchain referred to as anything other than the "Logger Greenchain". Never the Logger gorillas. Never. Always the Logger Greenchain. Yet out of somewhere, someone, has decided the gorilla has got to go!
Why? That intimidating, very big, very green, gorilla has for thirty years let opponents know that the Libby Logger Greenchain is a force to be reckoned with.
So now instead of a powerful gorilla as the de facto mascot, the wrestlers will have the mascot of a greenchain. Huh? A greenchain? What will that look like on a T-shirt? What will a greenchain mascot costume look like? Instead of a "logger" as the football-basketball mascot logo, why don't we just have a log? We could be the Libby Logs.
Maybe we should bring back the retired mascot from years ago, the wimpy Terrier.
Removing the gorilla is dumber than a box of, well, Libby Logs.
Leave the gorilla alone! Reenstate him as the mascot of the Libby Logger Greenchain.
In the famous words of Charlie Brown, "Good Grief!"
