On Friday we wrote about the e-mail from SSG Keith Wriston from the 101st Airborne Div currently stationed in Iraq, and their humorous inquiry as to whether they might be included as “honorary” members of the Libby Polar Bear Club because 1) He is from Montana, and 2) his whole Division has had to take frigid ice cold showers since before Christmas when their hot water heater on their base went on the fritz.
Polar Bear Rick Klin sent an answer back to the soldiers on Friday afternoon and here is his response: _________________________________ “Greetings and Hello Keith and those on base, from the Libby Montana Polar Bears, Unfortunately, taking a cold shower does not count for an honorary membership into the local club, since I take one every day of the year and never leave home without one. But it has been suggested to me by the folks that do the Internet stuff for us, that if we could receive a picture of your platoon by Email, I will make a copy of it and put it on a piece of cardboard and I will hand carry it into the Icy waters of Libby Creek during this week’s Plunge. (Which is our 2008 plunge and the community gets involved so we have a lot of folks taking the plunge that day and many more spectators, Dec. 30th. Sunday.) They will put together a story and put it on the Website.
And we would be happy to make your 130 cold water shower takers, honorary members of the local Polar Bear Club and furnish you with a Certificate stating this fact. I must receive the picture by no later than Sunday Morning, since our Plunge will be at 2:00 p.m. It can be of a few or of the whole group, just something to carry into the water. The more in the picture the better. Best regards from The Libby Montana Polar Bears” _______________________________
Now we are waiting to hear the reply back from Keith and his comrades…!
