Eureka animal control uncertain
October 15, 2007

Animal control in the Eureka area was again on the Commissioner’s agenda. In January, animal control personnel in Eureka became unable to handle the job due to medical problems. Since that time, the area has been handled by Libby personnel. A proposal has been presented to the Eureka City Council that the remainder of the 2007-08 County animal control budget go to the City of Eureka and a one-dollar lease of the Lincoln County Eureka Shelter. In return, the City of Eureka would assume responsibility for animal control in the north end of the county. The proposal was tabled at Tuesday night’s Eureka City Council meeting. They will not meet again until November. The Commissioners are now looking for other options.
