Forest Service seeks more fire fighting equipment
August 17, 2007
(Libby) - Due to the length and severity of the fire season, the Forest Service may be in need of additional fire fighting equipment. The types of equipment needed now are engines (Type IV and Type VI), water tenders, water trucks and skidgens. This equipment would be over and above the equipment that was signed up under the Best Value Regional Contract that included all water handling equipment.
If you’re interested in obtaining an Emergency Equipment Rental Agreement and your water handling equipment meets specifications, please call 406-283-7638. Before calling, please check the specifications for water handling equipment and personnel requirements located in Chapter 20 of the Interagency Incident Business Management Handbook. Copies of Chapter 20 specifications are located at the Supervisor’s Office or may be viewed at www.fs.fed.us/r1/kootenai.
The Kootenai National Forest will develop a list from those calling and will then set a time for equipment inspection. If you are interested please call 406-283-7638 by 5 p.m., Wednesday, August 22.
