Lower Thompson Chain of Lakes Fishing Derby

Fisher River Valley Fire and Rescue presents its first annual winter ice fishing derby this weekend, January 20 and 21, at the Lower Thompson Chain of Lakes. Formerly hosted by the Kickin’ Horse Saloon and Eatery, the derby will now benefit the Fire and Rescue group.
The entry fee is $15, of which $10 will go to prize money, and $5 will be donated to Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue. Prize money will be paid out as follows: 35% for pike, 25% for salmon, 25% for rainbow, and 15% for perch. There will be donated prizes too numerous to mention, which will be drawn throughout the weekend. You must be registered in the Derby and present to win. Registration will be taken through Friday night at the Kickin’ Horse Saloon. Close to 500 entries are expected for the derby.
Ice conditions are reported as excellent on the Thompson Chain of Lakes, with at least 12” of ice reported on the area lakes. McGregor Lake is not included in the contest. State fishing regulations apply to the derby.
