Nancy Sutton will be Lincoln County's next Treasurer
November 22, 2006
Sutton survived a recount of the election Monday. While there were 10 differences in vote counts, when the recount was completed, Sutton still led incumbent Democrat Geri Miller by six votes. Sutton had led Miller by nine votes prior to the recount.
According to County Commissioner Rita Windom, the differences appear to have been caused by several voters using blue ink, instead of the provided graphite pencil, when voting their ballots causing the counting machine to misread them. Recounts are hand counted as required by statute.
