Harvest Festival Oct. 5
October 4, 2006
Fall is here and it’s time to put the gardens to bed. The Kootenai Country Farmers’ Market will be hosting its annual Harvest Festival on Thursday, October 5th from 4-7 pm in the bandshell park next to the old Libby High School on Mineral Avenue in downtown Libby.
Gardeners can enter a variety of contests including a “Veggie Oddity Competition”. There will also be the traditional scare crow contest for adults, children, families and businesses. There is no cost or pre-registration to enter any of the contests. The winner of the Scarecrow Contest will win $20. The biggest summer and winter squash winner will receive $10.
There will be vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables at the festival. Other fun things to do will be leaf decorating, face painting, tile painting, apple stamping, Halloween and children’s games and music. Participants will also have the opportunity to guess the ingredients of the Farmer’s Market Harvest Stew. The person who guesses the 17 secret ingredients wins a second bowl of the famous stew.
Vendors may call Debi Davidson for information about setting up a booth at the Harvest Festival, 406-293-8406. Booth cost is $10.
