Frament reinstated to School Board

At an agenda meeting, not a regular school board meeting (Tuesday, September 12), the Libby School Board reinstated Jerry Frament to his seat on the Board.
Frament was defeated in his bid for re-election to the Board in the last school board election.
The vacant seat was created by the resignation of Lisa Bardole.
School Board member Lee Disney was the only dissenting vote. Disney said the Board has a long standing precedence of not appointing a person to the Board who has been voted off in a general election of the voters. That fell on deaf ears of the other Board members, but it must be noted that the board has a precedence of doing just that as well, appointing a person who has been voted off. "I have a real problem putting him back on", Disney told fellow board members.
The choice was between Frament and Tracy Coumo, who had run in the last election.
Chairman Terry Kelly cited Frament's experience on the board, and Coumo's lack of it, for the choice. "Tracy would have to come on the Board and learn everything", said Kelly.
Kelly encouraged Coumo to run for election in May. Frament will have to run for election in May to keep the seat.
As Disney pointed out, it was very apparent the Board planned to take action at the agenda meeting, rather than at the next regular meeting, since County Superintendent of Schools Ron Higgins was present to swear in the new board member.
With England making the motion to choose Frament, and Wood seconding, Huntsberger and Kelly voted to reinstate Frament. Disney voted "no". Board Member Gela Koehler was not present.
