Museum hosts Chili Cook-off July 29

What better time for a chili cook-off than rodeo weekend! In conjunction with the Smithsonian exhibition Key Ingredients: America by Food, which is on exhibit at The Heritage Museum through August 26, the Museum is hosting a chili cook-off on Saturday, July 29.

The gates will open at 6:00 am to allow plenty of time for the cooks to prepare their chili concoctions. Judging will be at noon. Immediately after, everyone is invited to taste all the different chilies for just one dollar! Come and sample some prize-winning and “better-luck-next-time” chili!

The three categories include Chili with Meat, No Beans; Chili with Beans, with or without Meat; and Hot (Spicy) Chili. First prize winners in each category will receive $100 cash! A steak dinner for two from Rosauers valued at $60 will be given away to each second prize winner. Third prize winners will each receive $25 cash. Prize sponsors are First National Bank, Woody Heaters, Rosauers, Glacier Insurance and Montana Country Real Estate.

Individuals or teams are welcome! Challenge your friends and coworkers! The entry fee is just $5. Entry forms are available at the Libby, Troy and Eureka libraries and museums or by e-mailing museum@libby.org.
