Hospital endowment nears Million Dollar Mark
Community challenged to raise remaining $30,000
April 30, 2006

St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Foundation in Libby is within $30,000 of reaching a long-awaited million dollar goal for their Permanent Endowment Fund.

According to KC Hoyer, Executive Director of the Foundation at St. John’s, four years of diligent fundraising by a volunteer board committed to maintaining quality healthcare in the Libby community was the key to success.

"It’s hard to believe that we are within reach of what many thought unattainable," commented Hoyer. "Over the past four years local residents and businesses have been riding a financial roller-coaster, making it difficult to ask for support. But true to style, this community came through with the overwhelming generosity that South Lincoln County is famous for. Each of our donors, large and small, have come together to make this dream a reality."

Local financial institutions are sponsoring the last leg of the Endowment. Glacier Bank, Lincoln County Credit Union, and First National Bank have challenged the community to raise the necessary $30,000 by offering a $12,000 dollar matching challenge.

The interest from the endowment fund is used as a perpetual source of income to purchase equipment and service needs of the hospital. The hospital plans to use just a portion of the earnings each year and allow the rest to return to the fund to continue to build the endowment.

All purchases made from the endowment interest go towards directly benefiting patients and their families. The first planned purchase will be the addition of recliner beds in patient rooms.

The hospital Foundation hopes to raise the additional $30,000 by June, 2006. For more information about St. John’s Lutheran Hospital and the endowment, contact KC Hoyer, 406-293-0106.
