Members of the Libby, Montana Polar Bear Club took their annual New Year's dip in Libby Creek Sunday, attracting about 75 spectators and about two dozen people willing to take the plunge. The water temperature registered 36 degrees, with the air temperature about the same...much warmer than two weeks ago, when ice had to be broken off the creek in order to swim. This swim was the 10th of this season, with dips occurring every Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the end of October through the first Sunday in April. Polar Bear Rick, president of the club, is celebrating his 29th year as a Polar Bear.
