Heavy Snow Warning through Wednesday
4-8 inches new snow possible
November 30, 2005

The National Weather Service out of Missoula has issued a Heavy Snow Warning for the Kootenai/Cabinet region through Wednesday. Accumulations of 4-8 inches of snow are possible for the Libby area.

A winter storm system moving through north central Idaho and western Montana is producing heavy amounts of snow, especially in the Cabinet, Clearwater and Bitteroot mountains. Travelers in northwest Montana should be prepared for winter driving conditions with heavy snowfall on Highway 2, with blowing and drifting snow and limited visibility at times.

Another strong winter storm is expected to move into the area on Thursday bringing more snow and gusty winds to western Montana and north central Idaho into Friday. Snow showers are likely every day through the weekend, with daytime temperatures in the mid-20s to low 30s.

Turner Ski Area, located 22 miles north of Libby, is reporting 15" of snow at the summit and 6" at the base. www.skiturner.com
