Summer is about over and were moving into fall. There are still some fun events on tap for Libby, even though things are beginning to wind down.
At the end of this month, dont miss the Kiwanis Demolition Derby on Sunday, September 18th. The MotoX Races which had been scheduled for Sunday, September 25th, have been cancelled. On Friday, September 30th, the internationally acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors professional basketball team will be at the Libby High School for a special exhibition game. They are known for their high-flying slam dunks, spectacular ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy.
September 14 - Superfund Basics Workshop This is an interactive Superfund workshop explaining how the EPA investigates polluted sites, how cleanup plans are developed, and how EPA chooses the best option for cleanup, as well as what happens when the cleanup is finished. The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the VFW. Attendance is free. For more information or to register, call the EPA Information Center at 293-6194.
September 15 - EPA Technical Workshop A technical workshop sponsored by the EPA will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the VFW. The session is free and open to the public. Learn about the specifics of EPA's work in Libby, including how samples are analyzed, how human health risk management decisions are made, what the different roles are on-site, and what the next steps are in cleanup. September 17 KHC Gala The Kootenai Heritage Council will hold a membership gala at the Memorial Center at 7:00 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Alan Lane and Frank Chiverini. The event is free for members and $5 for non-member guests.
September 18 - Kiwanis Demolition Derby Kootenai Kiwanis Park at 1:00 p.m. Admission is $7/12 & up, $3/6-11 and kids 5 and under free.
September 24 - Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet At the Memorial Center at 5:00 p.m. For ticket information call Jessica Morningstar at 293-4619.
September 25 - Motocross Races CANCELLED
September 30 - Harlem Ambassadors The Harlem Ambassadors professional basketball team will perform at the Libby High School gym at 7:00 p.m. The Chamber is putting together a team to play against them. Tickets $5 adults and students, $4 for seniors, $3 for kids under 4. Advance tickets available from the Libby Chamber of Commerce and Kootenai Disposal.
