Two new cabins available for rent on KNF
Bull River Guard Station and Upper Ford
June 11, 2005

One of the unique recreational opportunities available to visitors to the Kootenai National Forest is being able to stay in one of the decommissioned fire lookout towers or work station cabin facilities on the Forest. Two new cabins will be available this summer for visitors to rent for overnight stays, the Bull River Guard Station and Upper Ford Station. These old ranger stations will be available in midsummer 2005 when the reconstruction work is completed.

All these facilities are rustic and in secluded locations, offering a wonderful opportunity for a unique outdoor experience in Montana. Reservations must be made in advance and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Some locations are not suitable for small children or those with physical limitations due to hiking or climbing access requirements.

The Kootenai National Forest offers virtually unlimited opportunities for dispersed camping, hiking, fishing, boating and outdoor play at no charge. Developed recreational facilities have a modest fee to cover maintenance and upkeep. Most are in very scenic forest settings with incredible views or nearby recreational opportunities. Contact the Kootenai Forest for details about reservations for specific locations. See the Kootenai National Forest website for more details about recreational facilities available for public use: Kootenai National Forest website
