Troy Shooting Range proposed
Public input requested for project
April 26, 2005

The Three Rivers Ranger District of the Kootenai National Forest is seeking public comments on a proposal to construct a shooting range near Troy. The Troy Shooting Range project is proposed at the location of an old gravel pit approximately 4-1/2 miles from the junction of Hwy 2 on the South Side Road. The range would be available for local use as well as for law enforcement and shooting sports events.

The project would construct a range extending approximately 300 yards, with approximately 10 shooting benches. Funding has been approved by the Lincoln County Resource Advisory Committee. The purpose is to provide a safe and environmentally sound and secure shooting area for local use.

Public comments must be received by Friday, May 6th to be considered. Comments can be mailed to: Michael L. Balboni, District Ranger, Three Rivers Ranger District, 1437 N Hwy 2, Troy, MT 59935. For more information about this project, contact Mark Natale at the District office at 406-295-4693/7431.
