Libby, Troy and Yaak hold elections in May on school issues Libby, Troy and Yaak school districts will be holding elections on Tuesday, May 3rd, to decide school issues. Troy Public School District #1 will be asking voters to elect one Trustee for a three-year term. Polls will be open there from 8 am until 8 pm. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the district administration office between 7 am to 4 pm. Yaak Elementary District #24 is holding a General Fund Election the same day to authorize a levy proposition. The Yaak School District wants to spend $7,500, approximately 13.49 mills, for the purpose of maintenance and operation of the elementary general fund for the 2005-2006 school year. Polls will be open at the Yaak School, 30117 Yaak River Rd in Troy from noon to 8 pm. Yaak voters can request an absentee ballot by submitting a written request to the District Clerk, c/o Yaak School by noon on May 2nd. Libby will hold elections at Asa Wood Elementary School gym between 8 am and 8 pm to fill two Trustee positions and decide a resolution on the Lincoln Building/Old high school site disposal. Absentee voters in Libby can get ballots from the Clerk and Recorder’s office at the Lincoln County courthouse before noon on May 2nd.
Lincoln County Unemployment Rate 11.7% Lincoln County, Montana, unemployment rate for 2005 rose to 11.7%, slightly lower from last year’s 12.8%. Montana’s unemployment rate for March 2005 was 4.6%. The national unemployment rate for March 2005 was 5.2%.
City of Libby researching installing a webcam on Mineral Avenue Last November, Libby Mayor Tony Berget presented a proposal for the Libby City Council about installing a webcam on Mineral Avenue. The camera could be accessible via a website from any internet connection. The proposal was turned over to the Police Committee members to research prices.
