Sprucing up Libby
February 25, 2005
With the snow gone down low and daytime temperatures in the 50s, we have to think this means spring really is here. At this rate, people will be planting their gardens soon! Folks are out raking leaves that were covered by the winter snow and just, in general, getting outside and doing things. With the snow off, areas are starting to be accessible for hiking and fishing. Back roads are still soft and muddy in places, so be careful where you go not to drive on the ones that still haven’t firmed up causing ruts and damage to the road surface. Kootenai Falls is accessible and folks are already enjoying that nice little hike. In general, folks are rolling up their shirt sleeves and starting to do some spring cleanup and get things tidied up.
Speaking of sprucing up, the Libby Chamber of Commerce is in the process of installing a new visitor sign. The design evolved from the "Dream It, Do It" process to evaluate the county’s image to the outside world and find ways to create a more inviting outward face to visitors.
And on the topics of new looks, Libby’s paper, The Western News has done a make-over of their website, www.thewesternnews.com. The new spiffed up site has top stories, editorials, letters to the editor, classified ads and more. Check it out online! The paper publishes twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, and stories are posted in a timely fashion online.
