Libby Polar Bears New Year Swim
January 2, 2017
The Libby Polar Bears celebrated the new year with their annual New Year plunge in the Kootenai River Sunday, January 1. An overcast sky, air temperature of 25.5° and water temperature of 41.6° greeted the four who took the plunge at the Riverfront Park boat ramp in Libby.
The intrepid four included Rick Klin, Steve Sonju, Alan Gerstenecker and Eva Stoneroad. Overseeing the event for safety were three volunteers from David Thompson Search and Rescue.
Several spectators were on hand to observe the adventurous bunch.
