After a two-year hiatus, the Glacier Symphony will be performing at the Memorial Center in Libby at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.

The event is being coordinated by Lincoln County Community Foundation and Kootenai Heritage Council and underwritten and sponsored by many individuals and businesses in Libby and Troy.

"We have a special celebration that ties in with this year’s event," said LCCF chair Paula Darko-Hensler. "This year marks 10 years of granting that has been done by the foundation. Over the course of those 10 years, LCCF has given grants totaling $55,774 and done a $30,000 upgrade of the Ponderosa Room at Libby City Hall using challenge fund incentives and Montana Community Foundation Renaissance Grant award. We celebrate the generosity of the communities of Libby and Troy in building the LCCF endowment that allows us to do this grant making."

Always a popular and sold-out event, the symphony is making its sixth appearance in Libby. This year the concert is "Masterworks III, Rhapsodic Light," featuring the works of Wagner, Sibelius, Strauss and Brahms. Guest soloist is French horn player Jonas VanDyke, who has performed with the Beijing Symphony.

"The symphony is a great way to kick off the holiday season with an evening of festivities," Darko-Hensler said. "We could not pull off this event or do what we do without the support of our sponsors and the communities of Troy and Libby. We are a community foundation and there is so much meaning in that name. Our motto is ‘showing we care today and tomorrow.’ We are growing a savings account to be used today and into the future."

Tickets are available at Cabinet Books and are $15 for adults and $7 for students. A limited number of patron tickets are available for $50, which includes a pre-event champagne dessert and reserved seating.
