Jack Cunningham receives military honors

Jack Cunningham is a World War II Merchant Mariner and is receiving very much deserved decorations. Lt. Governor John Bohlinger made the trip Monday to the Libby Care Center where Mr. Cunningham now resides to present him with his awards. The ceremony took place at 2:30PM. Mr. Cunningham is honored with the Merchant Marine Emblem, Honorable Mention Button, Victory Medal w/bar, Presidential Testimonial Letter from President Harry S. Truman, Pacific War Zone Medal with/bar. "It is an honor and a privilege, said Bohlinger, to present these awards to Jack Cunningham. He is a shining example the accomplishments of the greatest generation and it brings me great joy to be a part of honoring such a great American. I would like to thank everyone who put forth the time and effort to finally bring Jack the recognition he deserves, Bohlinger said." Lt. Governor Bohlinger brought a "Flag Shirt" which is being signed by veterans across the state and will eventually be displayed at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. Local Veterans were invited to attend the event to honor Mr. Cunningham and sign the "Flag Shirt". ______________________________
