Ice-fishing derbies proposed

There are 25 ice-fishing derbies proposed for this coming winter across Montana with 12 of those occurring in northwest Montana. Most are longstanding derbies with one derby added to the Perch Assault series and one new proposal on Little Bitterroot Lake. Derbies in the Libby area are:

The Perch Assault, 4 derbies on Upper Thompson (January 9) and Lower Stillwater (January 30) lakes and Lake Mary Ronan (February 6 and March 6)

Fisher River Valley Derby, Thompson Chain of Lakes, January 16-17

Perch Pounder, all Region 1 lakes, month of February

McGregor Lake Derby, McGregor Lake, February 6-7

Ryan Wagner Memorial Derby, Murphy Lake, February 20

All the proposed derbies statewide are available for review on the FWP website. Comments are due to either the regional or Helena Fisheries offices by August 14.
