Libby Dam flows to decrease
June 2, 2007
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers say they will be decreasing the outflow from Libby Dam beginning Monday, June 4.
Libby Dam will be decreasing outflow from 25,600 cfs (full powerhouse) to 20,500 cfs on Monday evening starting at 10:00 pm MDT. A second reduction from 20,500 cfs to 20,000 cfs will be made Tuesday evening at 10:00 pm MDT. Outflow will remain at 20,000 cfs through Thursday evening. At that time outflow will likely be reduced to 15,000 cfs. An additional notification will be released prior to that flow reduction.
Kootenai River temperature management at Libby Dam will continue via placement of selective withdrawal gates to optimize river temperatures for spawning sturgeon and for resident fish in the Kootenai River, and will continue throughout the current operation and through the summer months.
