by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
September 2, 2010
A two and a half year old male grizzly bear was captured on August 30 in the community of West Kootenai after it had frequented houses and got into apples and garbage. The grizzly was captured in an effort to avoid further conflicts with humans.
The 215-pound bear was released on August 31 in the Kootenai National Forest in the West Kootenai up the Spread Creek drainage. The grizzly was fitted with a white GPS radio collar and green ear tags so that biologists can follow its movements.
